Laura Jane Matthewson

Laura Jane is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music, where she was the youngest student to ever complete the PGDip musical theatre course after gaining a place at just 17. During her time at RAM Laura Jane was awarded the Ronald William White Prize for Acting Through Song and an Ian Fleming Award (a bursary for outstanding musical theatre performers) from the Musician's Benevolent Fund. Roles whilst training include: Hermione/Mopsa in ‘The Winter’s Tale’ Stella in ‘Ways and Means’ and Lancashire Lass/Ensemble in ‘Oh! What a Lovely War’. Upon graduating she created the role of Louise in ‘After the Tone’ (Bridewell Theatre, Full Fever Productions), performed in ‘Friday Night Live with Christopher Biggins’ (The Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton, Kensington Grey Associates), and appeared in the ensemble for the Elton John & Ray Cooper Concert (Royal Albert Hall). Professional credits include: Fairy Pureheart in ‘Mother Goose’ (Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, Magic Beans Pantomimes); Trixie Martin in ‘Daisy Pulls It Off’ (Hever Castle, Hever Festival Productions) and Lauren in the national tour of ‘Soap Opera’ (MBP Theatrical). Television includes: Keith Lemon’s ITV2 show ‘Lemon La Vida Loca’ (Talkback Thames). Laura Jane is delighted to be working with all at Evolution Productions again this year, after spending last Christmas in Shrewsbury playing Fairy Sugarsnap in ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’ (Theatre Severn).
