James has scripted and/or directed over 50 theatre shows, nearly half of them pantomimes. This year, as well as this production, he is writing and directing "Aladdin" for the Theatre Royal in Winchester and also has another script being produced at the Beijing Playhouse in China!
In addition to his panto titles, other scripts include: Three Musketeers, Basingstoke Mysteries, Sherlock's Excellent Adventure and The Life of Colonel Cody (all for Proteus Theatre), as well as adaptations of The Braggart by Plautus and The Bloomers by Sternheim. James also wrote for Children's TV in the late 80s, for such shows as Number 73, Your Mother Wouldn't Like It and Palace Hill.
As an actor he has worked in theatres all over the country, including Southampton, Basingstoke, Winchester, Derby, Oxford, Edinburgh, Margate, Chelmsford and London, as well as touring extensively with such companies as Proteus, Channel, Hiss & Boo, Newpalm and his own company, Ici d’Art, which he ran for 4 years.
James has written the Princes Hall pantomime since 2004
