Alex Scott Fairley

Alex will be playing King Rat in ‘Dick Whittington’ for the Millfield Theatre in 2013, and he has previously appeared there as Madame Fifi in 'Beauty and the Beast’ and the Demon King in ‘Mother Goose’, as well as Jordan Hardup in ‘Cinderella’ for Princes Hall, Aldershot. His other theatre credits include Court Clerk and Ensemble in ‘Hello, Dolly!’, Lord Windermere in ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’ and Guy Jones in ‘A Chorus of Disapproval’ (all Pitlochry Festival Theatre); Doctor Caius in ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’, Flute/First Fairy in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Speed in ‘Two Gentlemen of Verona’ and Hortensio in ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ (all Guildford Shakespeare Company); Policeman/Teacher/Teddy Boy/Judge in ‘Blood Brothers’ (Phoenix Theatre, London); Migeul Correres in ‘Mexican Hayride’ and Tuffles in ‘Flahooley!’ (both Sadler’s Wells Opera, London); Gerald Croft in ‘An Inspector Calls’ (International Theatre, Vienna); Ms. Craig in ‘Enjoy!’ (York Theatre Royal); Zeke North in ‘A Capital Affair’ (Vienna’s English Theatre); Pope/Emperor/Horse Courser/Devil Bride in ‘Doctor Faustus’ (Creation Theatre, Oxford); Ariel in ‘The Tempest’ (Winchester Theatre Royal); Paul Bratter in ‘Barefoot in the Park’, Jack in ‘Charley’s Aunt’ and Claude Philby in ‘A Bedful of Foreigners’ (all Sidmouth Pavilion Repertory); Sir Brilliant Fashion in ‘The Way To Keep Him’ (Artifice/Bath International Festival); Spiro in ‘Sudden Deaths’ (Farnham Repertory Company); First Witch in ‘Macbeth’ (Union Theatre, London). Alex has worked extensively as a children’s performer and puppeteer in the USA, Canada and UK on national tours including ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’, ‘Room On The Broom’ (all Tall Stories Theatre); ‘Pigeon Party!’, ‘Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus!’ (Big Wooden Horse Theatre); and the West End run of ‘Midnight’ (Watershed/Peacock Theatre). He holds first class honours in English and Latin from Jesus College, Oxford, and is fluent in German; he is the co-translator of ‘Der Grüffelo’ for Junges Theater Bonn.
